Name:    Cesare Cottonaro

Level:   Intermediate

Course: Preliminary (PET)

Our Student of the Month for May is from the Full-Time Preliminary teenagers group, 16 year old, Cesare Cottonaro - pictured above receiving the Key certificate, which he achieved at the end of the last school year.

Having successfully completed the Key certificate, Cesare is working toward the Preliminary exam, which he will take at our school in July.  The Preliminary is the second phase of the Cambridge English qualifications and is set at level B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference.  This Intermediate qualification prepares students to use English for work, study and travel and is accepted by educational institutes and business globally, including famous brands such as Sony and Coca-Cola.

We asked Cesare some questions about his learning experience:

When and why did you decide to come to English International School?

Last year I decided to come to do the Key.  I came because I wanted to study English, it's an important language and I like it.

What are your strengths and weaknesses as an English Language Student?

My strengths as an English Student are writing and listening, I'm very good at these.  My weakness is speaking because I don't feel I can always express myself well.

Tell us about the group you study with...

My group is very good and we are prepared well in English.  It's a fun group, we laugh a lot and we study with tranquility, getting excellent results.  We really enjoy our time in the lessons.

What do you most enjoy about your lessons?

When I go to English International School, I most enjoy being with my friends and I feel happy during the lessons.

Do you plan to do the First Certificate once you have completed the Preliminary?

Yes, I want to do the First because the English language is very important and I want to be very competent in it.

Cesare is a popular member of the school.  He is always cheerful and enthusiastic about the lessons.  His group are a lot of fun but always willing to learn, they study hard and understand what is expected of them.  We have great hopes for Cesare to continue to grow as an English Language Speaker, he shows all the signs of being in a position to master the language and use it practically in real-life situations.  He is a really great example of what can be achieved with the right attitude.
